Frequently asked questions

The Singapore July temperature market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the highest temperature prediction in Singapore on July 2. Traders buy and sell shares based on their belief about whether the peak temperature will reach specific thresholds. The interface displays current odds, historical price movements, and volume data, allowing participants to monitor how market sentiment evolves as the event date approaches. This live pricing reflects the collective forecast of all active traders on the platform.

Prediction market odds represent a decentralized consensus built on financial incentives, whereas traditional analyst forecasts rely on meteorological models and expert judgment. In this market, traders who accurately predict the highest temperature on July 2 profit directly, creating pressure for odds to reflect genuine probability estimates. Analyst forecasts and weather models provide valuable context, but they operate independently from market pricing. Comparing the two can reveal whether traders are pricing in factors analysts may have overlooked or whether consensus exists between both approaches.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell pressure. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on a specific outcome—in this case, whether the highest temperature will be 26°C on July 2. As traders place orders, the probability displayed shifts to reflect the new balance of capital on each side. The current odds show market participants' aggregate belief about the likelihood of that temperature threshold being reached.

This market resolves around Jul 2, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Singapore on July 2 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the threshold specified in the market contract. Resolution occurs after the event date passes and official temperature data becomes available. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout based on the final odds at which they entered.

Weather forecasts and seasonal climate patterns are primary drivers of price movement in this market. Updated meteorological models, atmospheric pressure systems, and monsoon activity in the region can shift trader expectations significantly. News about unusual weather patterns or climate anomalies may also influence odds. As July 2 approaches, intraday weather reports and real-time temperature readings will likely trigger sharp price swings. Major weather events or forecast revisions in the days leading up to the date could cause substantial volatility in trader positioning.
