This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 8 Jul '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/shenzhen/ZGSZ. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment, historical accuracy adjustments, and risk premiums that meteorological models alone do not capture. While weather services issue point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the financial stakes and beliefs of many participants, sometimes revealing consensus that differs from official forecasts. Comparing the leading outcome odds to published analyst predictions for Shenzhen's July 8 high can highlight where market participants see additional uncertainty or conviction. This divergence is particularly useful when forecasters disagree or when recent data shifts faster than traditional model updates.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling shares of each temperature outcome, with the share price reflecting the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market uses an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism, so prices adjust continuously as trades flow in; larger trades move odds more sharply than small ones. Each outcome bracket—such as 30–32°C or 32–34°C—has its own share price, and the sum of all outcome probabilities equals 100%. Traders profit by correctly predicting which temperature range will verify, incentivizing accurate pricing and deep liquidity.
This market resolves around Jul 8, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Shenzhen on July 8 is verified and confirmed. The outcome is determined by comparing the official recorded high against the predefined temperature brackets offered in the market. Resolution occurs after the event date has passed and credible public reporting confirms the final temperature reading. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome bracket receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Early resolution is not possible since the event must occur first.
Major weather pattern shifts, tropical cyclone warnings, or significant atmospheric pressure changes over southern China can trigger sharp repricing in this market. Updated seasonal forecasts, historical temperature anomalies, or shifts in the jet stream may also influence trader positioning. Real-time meteorological alerts issued by China's weather service or international models often prompt rapid trading activity as participants adjust their exposure. Additionally, any unexpected climate events—such as unusual cloud cover or air quality alerts affecting local temperatures—can move odds. As the event date approaches, intraday weather updates and final model consensus typically drive the most volatile price swings.
