Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior and risk appetite alongside expert models. While weather analysts publish deterministic temperature ranges based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the beliefs of many participants with financial stakes in the outcome. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are pricing in tail risks or consensus scenarios that official forecasts may underweight or overlook.
On Polymarket, traders set odds by buying and selling shares that represent different temperature outcomes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each contract trades at a price between 0 and 1, where the price directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As new information arrives—updated weather models, seasonal patterns, or real-time atmospheric conditions—traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down to reflect changing expectations about Seoul's peak temperature on the specified date.
This market resolves around Jun 30, 2026, once June 30 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Seoul that day is confirmed. The outcome is determined by verified public reporting from credible meteorological sources, ensuring an objective and transparent settlement. Traders holding shares in the outcome that matches the recorded temperature receive their payout, while other positions expire worthless.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases will likely drive significant price movements in this market. Tropical systems, monsoon timing, or anomalous heat waves affecting East Asia could reshape trader expectations weeks in advance. As June approaches, daily weather updates and short-range model consensus will tighten the range of plausible outcomes, causing volatility to concentrate around the most probable temperature bands.
