Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they reflect real-money trader conviction rather than statistical models alone. While weather analysts rely on atmospheric data and historical patterns, this market aggregates the beliefs of participants who have financial incentive to predict accurately. Comparing the implied probability from market prices to official forecasts from Korea Meteorological Administration or international weather services can reveal where traders see gaps in consensus or where they expect surprises. These differences highlight how markets sometimes price in tail risks or emerging data that formal forecasts have not yet fully incorporated.
This market resolves around Jul 5, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Seoul on July 5 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual weather station data against the temperature thresholds embedded in each contract. Traders who backed the correct temperature range will see their positions settle at full value, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the market end date once official meteorological records are published and confirmed.
Major weather pattern shifts, seasonal anomalies, or updated climate forecasts from meteorological agencies can significantly move this market. El Niño or La Niña developments, monsoon intensity reports, and heat wave warnings for East Asia are key catalysts. Real-time updates from the Korea Meteorological Administration or regional climate centers often trigger rapid repricing as traders adjust to new data. Additionally, historical temperature records for early July in Seoul and any unusual atmospheric conditions reported in the weeks leading up to the event will influence trader positioning and market odds.
