Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Seoul July 4 temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for contracts tied to the highest temperature forecast in Seoul on July 4. Traders buy and sell shares based on their conviction about whether the day's peak will hit specific thresholds. The dashboard displays current odds, historical price movements, and liquidity depth, giving participants a live view of market sentiment around Seoul's summer weather conditions on that date.

Prediction market odds reflect aggregated trader beliefs and often incorporate the latest weather models, historical patterns, and seasonal data that professional meteorologists also consult. While traditional forecasters publish point estimates or confidence intervals, this market distills collective intelligence into a single probability. Comparing the two can reveal where traders diverge from consensus—either because new information has emerged or because market participants weight certain scenarios differently than official forecasts do.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell pressure. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each contract represents a specific temperature outcome, and the price of a share reflects the collective probability that outcome will occur. As traders deposit capital and place orders, the market continuously reprices to balance supply and demand, ensuring that the odds remain responsive to new information and shifting expectations about Seoul's weather.

This market resolves around Jul 4, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Seoul on July 4 is confirmed and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the contract thresholds traders have wagered on. Resolution occurs after the day concludes and official meteorological data is published, at which point payouts are distributed to holders of the winning contract.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and tropical storm activity in East Asia could all shift trader expectations and move odds significantly. Real-time atmospheric data, changes in jet stream positioning, and anomalies in sea surface temperatures may prompt repricing as the July 4 date approaches. Additionally, historical analogues—such as heat waves or cool spells from prior years—often resurface in trader discussion and can influence positioning as new meteorological models are released.
