This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 5 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/br/guarulhos/SBGR. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect collective trader expectations and often diverge from traditional weather analyst forecasts. While meteorologists issue deterministic temperature predictions based on atmospheric models, prediction markets incorporate uncertainty and real-time sentiment shifts. Comparing Polymarket odds to official forecasts from Brazil's national weather service or international models like ECMWF can reveal whether traders are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic scenarios. These differences highlight how markets price tail risks that traditional forecasts may underweight.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this event is priced as a set of outcome contracts, each representing a specific temperature range or threshold. Traders buy and sell shares at prices between 0 and 1 cent, where the price reflects the market's implied probability of that outcome occurring. As new weather data emerges and the June 5 date approaches, prices adjust dynamically. The most actively traded outcome typically commands the highest volume and tightest spreads, making it the most liquid contract to trade.
The market resolves on Jun 5, 2026, after the highest temperature in Sao Paulo on June 5 has been recorded and verified. Resolution depends on official temperature data from a designated meteorological source, ensuring an objective and auditable outcome. Once the final temperature is confirmed, the corresponding outcome contract settles to 1 cent and all other outcomes settle to 0, distributing winnings to holders of the correct contract.
Temperature expectations for Sao Paulo on June 5 can shift based on updated weather models, seasonal anomalies, and atmospheric patterns. Major signals include revised forecasts from meteorological agencies, El Niño or La Niña developments affecting South American climate, and real-time atmospheric pressure changes. As June approaches, short-range forecasts become more reliable, typically narrowing the range of plausible outcomes and sharpening market pricing. Unusual heat waves or cold fronts in the weeks prior can also reset trader expectations for that specific date.
