Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money consensus from traders pricing in meteorological models, seasonal patterns, and climate data. Analyst forecasts from weather services and climate institutions typically focus on probabilistic temperature ranges and confidence intervals. Market odds often diverge from single-model forecasts because traders aggregate multiple information sources and adjust for uncertainty. Comparing Polymarket probabilities against institutional weather predictions reveals whether markets are pricing in more optimistic or conservative temperature scenarios than official forecasters.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this event is priced as outcome shares, where each temperature bracket or specific degree threshold trades as a separate contract. Traders buy and sell shares reflecting their belief in which temperature will be recorded, with prices ranging from 0 to 1 cent per share. Higher prices indicate stronger market confidence in that outcome. Volume and bid-ask spreads on each outcome reveal liquidity and conviction; tighter spreads suggest consensus, while wider spreads indicate disagreement among traders about the likely high temperature on that date.
The market resolves on Jun 11, 2026, after the highest temperature in Sao Paulo on June 11, 2026 has been recorded and verified. Resolution depends on official temperature data from a designated meteorological source, ensuring an objective, auditable outcome. Once the final high temperature is confirmed, the corresponding outcome share is settled at full value, and all other shares expire worthless. This structure guarantees that market resolution is tied directly to real-world weather observation rather than subjective interpretation.
Major weather pattern shifts, including changes to atmospheric pressure systems, ocean temperature anomalies, and seasonal wind patterns, can significantly move odds. Updated climate forecasts from meteorological agencies and long-range models will influence trader expectations as June approaches. Urban heat island effects, pollution levels, and local weather station calibration can also affect recorded temperatures. Additionally, historical temperature records for that date and broader climate trends in South America may prompt traders to adjust positions. Real-time weather alerts and tropical system activity in the weeks before June 11 will likely trigger rapid market repricing.
