The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/qingdao/ZSQD. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Qingdao on June 8 is priced through outcome shares that traders buy and sell. Each temperature outcome or range has a share price reflecting its implied probability; higher prices indicate stronger market confidence in that outcome. Prices are determined by an automated market maker or order-book mechanism, adjusting in real time as new trades occur. As June 8 approaches, prices typically converge toward the actual observed temperature, with volatility potentially increasing if weather forecasts shift or conflicting data emerges.
The market resolves on Jun 8, 2026, after the highest temperature in Qingdao on June 8 has been recorded and verified. Resolution depends on the official temperature reading from a designated meteorological source, typically China's National Meteorological Center or Qingdao's local weather station. The exact temperature threshold or range that determines which outcome wins is specified in the market's contract terms. Once the data is confirmed, the winning outcome is paid out and losing shares expire worthless.
Several factors can shift odds for Qingdao's June 8 high temperature. Updated seasonal weather forecasts, particularly 7–10 day models from meteorological agencies, often trigger repricing as confidence in specific temperature ranges changes. Anomalous atmospheric patterns, such as early heat waves or cold fronts, can move probabilities significantly. Historical temperature data and climate normals for early June in Qingdao provide baseline expectations; deviations from those norms may prompt trader adjustments. Real-time observations in late May and early June, including humidity, pressure systems, and ocean temperatures, influence near-term odds as the event date approaches.
