Prediction market odds reflect real-money trader conviction and often diverge from traditional weather forecasts or analyst models. While meteorologists issue probabilistic temperature ranges based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates dispersed trader beliefs into a single price signal. Comparing the current odds here to published forecasts from regional weather services can reveal whether the market is pricing in more or less confidence in extreme heat than official models suggest. Such gaps sometimes highlight underappreciated climate patterns or data the broader forecast community may have weighted differently.
This market resolves around Jun 25, 2026, once June 25 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Qingdao for that day is confirmed. The outcome is determined by verifying the peak temperature against credible public sources, with the "yes" side winning if it reaches 30°C or higher, and the "no" side winning if it stays below that threshold. Traders holding winning shares receive their payout automatically once the resolution is finalized and the market officially closes.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, or tropical storm systems approaching the region could significantly alter trading odds. Real-time atmospheric data releases, changes in ocean temperatures, or anomalies in the jet stream may prompt traders to reassess heat risk. Historical temperature records for late June in Qingdao also serve as calibration points. Additionally, any unexpected climate events or shifts in regional air pressure systems in the weeks leading up to June 25 could trigger rapid repricing as traders incorporate new information into their probability estimates.
