Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Qingdao temperature market dashboard displays real-time odds and historical price movements for the highest temperature expected in Qingdao on June 15. Traders buy and sell shares representing different temperature ranges, and the dashboard reflects the current market consensus through live pricing. You can monitor 24-hour volume and cumulative trading activity to gauge market interest and liquidity. This dashboard gives you a transparent view of how the prediction community is pricing temperature outcomes as new information emerges.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment and financial incentives. While meteorologists publish deterministic forecasts based on atmospheric models, this market aggregates the collective judgment of traders who profit or lose based on accuracy. Comparing the implied probability here to published forecasts from weather services can reveal where the market is pricing in additional uncertainty or confidence. Both sources have value: analysts provide technical detail, while markets reflect distributed information and skin-in-the-game accountability.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each temperature range has its own contract, and the price of a share reflects the probability traders assign to that outcome occurring. As new data arrives—weather updates, model runs, or real-time conditions—traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. The spread between bid and ask prices reflects liquidity and uncertainty; tighter spreads indicate higher confidence and trading volume.

This market resolves around Jun 15, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Qingdao on June 15 is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the official temperature reading from that date, typically confirmed through meteorological records or established weather reporting agencies. Resolution occurs after the event window closes and data is finalized, ensuring all traders have equal access to the same information. Early resolution is not possible since the outcome depends on real-world conditions that unfold on the specified date.

Weather model updates and seasonal forecasts are primary drivers of price movement in this market. Major atmospheric patterns—monsoon onset, heat waves, or tropical systems—can shift trader expectations significantly. Real-time satellite imagery and regional weather alerts in the days leading up to June 15 will likely trigger sharp repricing. Historical temperature records for Qingdao in mid-June and any unusual climate anomalies reported by meteorological agencies may also influence positioning. As the event date approaches, intraday weather refinements will create trading opportunities for those monitoring conditions closely.
