Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives and crowd wisdom rather than a single model's output. While weather analysts publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the beliefs of many traders who profit by accurately predicting the actual high temperature. Comparing the implied probabilities here to published forecasts from meteorological agencies can reveal where the crowd sees value or risk that official models may underweight or overweight.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time odds for each temperature outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome contract trades independently, and the price of a contract reflects the collective probability assigned by active traders. As new information arrives—updated forecasts, historical weather patterns, or seasonal data—traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down to reflect changing expectations about the July 13 high in Qingdao.

This market resolves around Jul 13, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Qingdao on July 13 is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual meteorological data reported for that date, ensuring all traders are evaluated against the same factual benchmark. Resolution typically occurs within hours or a day after the event, allowing payouts to be processed promptly once the temperature is confirmed.

Several factors can shift odds in this market before Jul 13, 2026. Updated seasonal forecasts, atmospheric pressure systems, or tropical weather patterns affecting East Asia may prompt traders to reprrice their positions. Historical temperature records for Qingdao in July provide a baseline, and any anomalies in global or regional climate patterns could trigger volatility. Additionally, as the event date approaches, real-time weather updates and short-range forecasts from meteorological agencies often drive the most significant price movements as uncertainty narrows.
