Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds on Polymarket can be compared against traditional meteorological forecasts and analyst models from weather services like Météo-France or the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. Prediction markets often incorporate real-time trader expectations and may diverge from official forecasts as new data emerges. While meteorologists rely on physics-based models, market prices reflect collective belief about outcomes. Comparing the two approaches can reveal where traders see opportunities or disagreements with consensus forecasts, offering a complementary perspective on the likely high temperature for June 9 in Paris.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Paris on June 9 is priced through an automated market maker or order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares corresponding to specific temperature ranges or point outcomes. Each contract's price reflects the market's implied probability of that outcome occurring. As traders update their positions based on weather models, seasonal patterns, and real-time data, prices adjust dynamically. The spread between bid and ask prices indicates liquidity and uncertainty around each temperature outcome, with tighter spreads on more liquid contracts.

The market resolves on Jun 9, 2026, after the highest temperature in Paris on June 9 has been recorded and verified. Resolution is determined by the official temperature data for that date, typically sourced from a recognized meteorological authority or weather station in Paris. Once the actual high temperature is confirmed, the outcome is locked in and winning shares are paid out according to which temperature range or specific value was correct. Traders should monitor official weather records as the date approaches to understand how resolution will be determined.

Several factors can shift market odds for Paris's high temperature on June 9. Major weather pattern changes, such as the arrival of a heat wave or cold front, will move prices significantly. Updated seasonal forecasts and medium-range weather models released in the days before June 9 can trigger large trades. Real-time atmospheric conditions, jet stream positioning, and solar activity may influence trader expectations. Historical temperature records and climate anomalies for early June in Paris also inform positioning. As the date approaches, short-range forecasts become more precise, typically reducing uncertainty and stabilizing prices around the most likely outcome.
