Frequently asked questions

The Paris temperature market on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the highest temperature forecast in Paris on June 17. This dashboard displays the current price of the leading outcome—whether the peak temperature will reach 37°C or higher—along with historical price movements and participant volume. Traders use this data to monitor how market sentiment shifts as the event date approaches, giving you a live view of collective expectations around summer heat in the French capital.

Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders worldwide, often incorporating meteorological data and seasonal patterns faster than traditional forecasts update. While weather analysts rely on numerical models and historical climate data, this market aggregates that information through price discovery. Comparing the odds here to published forecasts from national weather services can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less risk of extreme heat than official models suggest, offering a complementary perspective on June 17's temperature outlook.

On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing yes or no outcomes, with the price of each share reflecting the implied probability of that event occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The leading outcome—highest temperature of 37°C or higher—is priced according to order-book dynamics, where demand and supply from participants determine the odds in real time. As new weather data emerges or the event date draws closer, the price adjusts to reflect updated expectations, allowing traders to enter or exit positions at any time before resolution.

This market resolves around Jun 17, 2026, once June 17 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Paris that day is confirmed. The outcome is determined by verified data from credible public weather reporting sources, establishing whether the peak temperature met or exceeded 37°C. Traders holding the correct outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. The resolution process is automatic once the official temperature reading becomes available.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and atmospheric pressure systems over Europe can all influence odds in this market. Heat waves, jet stream positioning, and anomalies reported by meteorological agencies typically trigger significant price swings. Additionally, as June 17 approaches, any revision to long-range models or unexpected climate events in the preceding weeks may prompt traders to reassess their positions. Real-time temperature readings in the days leading up to the event will likely drive the most volatile trading activity.
