Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Panama City temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the highest temperature forecast in Panama City on June 19. The interface displays current market prices, 24-hour trading volume of $60, and historical price movements so traders can monitor how sentiment shifts as the event date approaches. This market aggregates trader predictions into a single probability estimate, updated continuously as new bets are placed. The dashboard helps participants assess consensus expectations around the specific temperature threshold being wagered on.

Prediction market odds reflect real-money trader conviction and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric models, this market distills collective trader judgment into a single probability. Traders incorporate model data, historical patterns, and local knowledge, but their incentive is profit rather than accuracy per se. Comparing this market's implied odds to published forecasts from meteorological agencies can reveal where the crowd sees asymmetric risk or where consensus is strongest.

This market resolves around Jun 19, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Panama City on June 19 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual recorded high temperature against the threshold specified in the market contract. Resolution typically occurs within hours or a day after the event, once official meteorological data is published and confirmed. Traders who correctly predicted the outcome receive their winnings; incorrect positions expire worthless.

Weather model updates and seasonal forecasts are primary drivers; shifts in long-range predictions can trigger significant repricing. Real-time atmospheric data—pressure systems, humidity, wind patterns—released days before June 19 will influence trader positioning. Historical temperature records for Panama City on that date and broader climate anomalies may also sway sentiment. Media coverage of regional heat waves or unusual weather patterns could accelerate trading. As the event date approaches, intraday weather alerts and final model consensus typically dominate price action in the final hours.
