Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds reflect real-time consensus from traders betting on Panama City's June 12 temperature, while meteorological forecasts from weather agencies and climate analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical data. Markets often price in uncertainty differently than traditional forecasts; traders may assign higher or lower probabilities based on recent market sentiment, geopolitical factors, or seasonal patterns. Comparing Polymarket odds to official weather service predictions and climate analyst reports can reveal where the crowd diverges from expert models, highlighting areas of disagreement or emerging information.

The market resolves on Jun 12, 2026, after the highest temperature in Panama City on June 12 has been recorded and verified. The outcome is determined by official temperature data from a designated weather station or meteorological authority serving Panama City. Once the actual high temperature for that day is confirmed, the market settles based on which outcome bracket or threshold the recorded value falls into, and traders' positions are settled accordingly.

Several factors could shift market odds before June 12. Seasonal weather pattern updates, tropical storm or hurricane forecasts affecting Central America, and shifts in atmospheric pressure systems could all influence expected temperatures. Real-time meteorological model runs released closer to the date will refine predictions. Additionally, historical anomalies—such as El Niño or La Niña conditions—and any unusual climate events in the weeks leading up to June 12 may prompt traders to reassess their positions. News of volcanic activity or regional air quality events could also impact pricing.
