Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Panama City heat record market dashboard displays real-time odds and price history for whether the highest temperature in Panama City will reach 35°C on July 5. Traders buy and sell shares based on their conviction about the outcome, and the current market price reflects the collective forecast of participants. The dashboard updates continuously as new trades execute, giving you a live snapshot of how the prediction market is pricing this weather event. You can monitor volume activity and historical price movements to understand how sentiment has shifted over time.

Prediction markets like this one aggregate dispersed information from many traders, often revealing insights that differ from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical data to estimate temperature ranges, traders in this market incorporate their own research, real-time observations, and risk appetite into their bids. The market price can diverge from expert consensus when traders believe conventional forecasts underweight or overweight the likelihood of a 35°C high. Comparing the current odds to published forecasts from Panama's meteorological service offers a useful cross-check on whether the market is pricing in tail risks or anchoring too conservatively.

This market resolves around Jul 5, 2026, once the event has occurred and the outcome is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution hinges on whether the highest temperature recorded in Panama City on July 5 reaches or exceeds 35°C. Official meteorological data from Panama's weather service or other recognized sources will determine the final result. Until that date, traders can continue to buy and sell shares, and the market price may shift as the forecast date approaches and new weather models become available.

Several factors could shift trader positioning before Jul 5, 2026. Updated weather forecasts showing stronger heat systems or cooler patterns will likely trigger repricing. Real-time atmospheric data, sea surface temperatures, and tropical activity in the region may influence expectations. News of El Niño or La Niña conditions could alter long-range confidence. As July 5 approaches, hourly forecasts will become more precise, and traders may adjust their positions based on the latest model runs. Unusual weather events elsewhere in the tropics or shifts in seasonal patterns could also prompt market participants to reassess their bets on Panama City's peak temperature.
