Prediction market odds and traditional weather forecasts serve different purposes but often converge on similar temperature ranges. While meteorologists rely on atmospheric models and historical data, traders in this market aggregate dispersed information through price signals. When analyst forecasts and market odds diverge significantly, it may signal either new data entering the market or differences in how uncertainty is priced. Comparing the two can reveal whether traders are more bullish or bearish on extreme temperatures than official forecasts suggest, offering a complementary perspective on June 26's weather outlook.
This market resolves around Jun 26, 2026, once June 26 has passed and the actual highest temperature in Munich can be verified. The outcome is determined by comparing the recorded peak temperature against the threshold specified in each contract. Resolution relies on credible public weather data sources to confirm the final figure. Once the event is verifiable from official reporting, the market settles and traders receive payouts based on which outcomes occurred.
Several factors could shift odds before the market closes. Updated seasonal forecasts or changes in atmospheric patterns leading into late June may prompt traders to reassess temperature probabilities. Major weather systems, heat waves, or unusual jet stream positioning could trigger significant repricing. Real-time meteorological alerts and model updates in the days immediately before June 26 often drive the most volatile trading. Additionally, historical temperature records for Munich in late June serve as reference points that traders monitor, and any shift in consensus among forecasters can quickly ripple through market prices.
