Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Moscow temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and historical price movement for the highest temperature forecast in Moscow on June 25. The interface displays current trader sentiment through live odds, 24-hour volume of $51,590, and cumulative trading activity totaling $62,057. This data reflects how the prediction market community is pricing the likelihood of different temperature outcomes as traders buy and sell shares based on their expectations of the day's peak heat.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, media attention, and collective expectations rather than relying solely on atmospheric models. While weather analysts publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on physics and historical data, this market aggregates the distributed knowledge of traders who profit or lose based on accuracy. Comparing the implied odds here to published forecasts from national weather services can reveal whether the crowd is pricing in more or less uncertainty than official models suggest.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker or order-book system, with each share representing a discrete temperature range or threshold. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the probability traders assign to it; higher prices indicate stronger consensus that a particular temperature band will occur. As new information emerges—weather updates, seasonal patterns, or real-time conditions—traders adjust their positions, moving prices and revealing shifts in collective expectations.

This market resolves around Jun 25, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Moscow on June 25 becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual meteorological data against the predefined temperature brackets or thresholds established at market creation. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout once the event concludes and the result is confirmed, settling all open positions.

Major weather pattern shifts, seasonal anomalies, or updated climate forecasts from meteorological agencies can significantly move this market. Real-time atmospheric conditions, jet stream positioning, and heat wave developments in Eastern Europe will influence trader positioning as June 25 approaches. Media coverage of extreme weather events, historical temperature records for the date, and any unusual climate phenomena could trigger repricing. Additionally, as the actual day draws closer, intraday weather updates and live temperature readings will drive final adjustments before resolution.
