Prediction market odds reflect real-money consensus from traders betting on Milan's June 6 temperature, while meteorological forecasts from weather agencies and climate analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical data. Markets often incorporate analyst predictions but may diverge based on trader sentiment and risk appetite. Comparing Polymarket odds to official weather service forecasts and seasonal climate reports can reveal whether traders are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic temperature scenarios than traditional forecasters expect for that date.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Milan on June 6 is priced through outcome contracts representing specific temperature ranges or thresholds. Each contract trades at a price between 0 and 1, where the price reflects the probability traders assign to that outcome occurring. As new information about seasonal patterns, climate anomalies, or forecast updates emerges, traders adjust positions, moving prices up or down. The contract price at any moment represents the marginal trader's belief about the likelihood of that temperature range being recorded on June 6.
The market resolves on Jun 6, 2026, after the highest temperature in Milan on June 6 has been recorded and verified. The outcome is determined by official temperature data from a designated meteorological source, typically the Italian national weather service or an internationally recognized weather station in Milan. Once the peak temperature for that day is confirmed, the winning outcome contract is settled at 1 and all other contracts at 0, distributing winnings to traders who correctly predicted the temperature range.
Major weather pattern shifts, seasonal climate anomalies, and updated long-range forecasts from meteorological agencies can significantly move odds. Atmospheric circulation changes, heat waves affecting Southern Europe, or unusual jet stream positioning weeks before June 6 may prompt traders to reprrice temperature expectations. Real-time weather model updates in the days leading up to June 6 will likely drive the most volatile price movements. Additionally, historical temperature records for early June in Milan and any reported climate or urban heat island effects can influence trader positioning and market prices.
