Frequently asked questions

The Miami temperature prediction market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the highest temperature expected in Miami on June 29. Traders buy and sell shares based on their forecasts, with prices reflecting the collective probability assigned to different temperature ranges. The interface displays current odds for outcomes such as whether the high will fall between 84–85°F, along with historical price movements and liquidity data. This live pricing mechanism lets participants monitor how market sentiment shifts as new weather data and forecasts emerge.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior and incentives alongside meteorological models. While the National Weather Service and private forecasters publish point estimates and confidence intervals, this market aggregates the views of financially motivated participants who profit from accuracy. Comparing the implied probability of a specific temperature band on this market to the consensus forecast from major weather agencies can reveal where traders see value or risk that analysts may have underweighted. Both sources offer complementary perspectives on the likely outcome.

This market resolves around Jun 29, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Miami for that day becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature to the predefined ranges offered in the market. Traders who correctly predicted the temperature band receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the market close, pending confirmation of the official temperature reading.

Weather model updates and tropical system forecasts are the primary drivers of price movement in this market. Major shifts in atmospheric patterns, unexpected heat domes, or changes to hurricane or tropical storm tracks could significantly alter expectations for Miami's June 29 high. Real-time satellite imagery, upper-air data releases, and official National Weather Service advisories often trigger rapid repricing. Additionally, historical temperature anomalies and seasonal climate patterns may influence trader positioning as the event date approaches.
