Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations, which often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical data, prediction markets incorporate real-time information and trader conviction. Comparing Polymarket implied probabilities to official forecasts from Mexico's National Meteorological Service or international weather models can reveal whether traders are pricing in more extreme or more moderate outcomes than expert predictions suggest.
The market resolves on Jun 9, 2026, after the highest temperature in Mexico City on June 9 has been recorded. Resolution is determined by official temperature data from a designated meteorological authority, typically Mexico's National Meteorological Service or an equivalent official source. The outcome that matches the recorded high temperature for that date determines which outcome tokens are redeemed at full value, while non-winning outcomes expire worthless.
Several factors could shift market odds before June 9. Updated seasonal weather forecasts, atmospheric pressure systems, and tropical storm activity in the region may influence trader expectations. Real-time meteorological data released in the days leading up to the event typically drives significant price movement. Additionally, historical temperature anomalies, climate patterns, and any unusual weather alerts from official forecasters could prompt traders to adjust positions, causing odds to fluctuate as new information becomes available.
