Prediction market odds reflect the aggregated judgment of traders betting real money on the outcome, whereas traditional analyst forecasts rely on meteorological models and expert interpretation. This market's current pricing suggests traders assign a particular probability to temperatures staying at or below 26°C on June 26. Comparing these odds to published weather forecasts from meteorological agencies can reveal where the crowd's expectations diverge from institutional predictions. Markets often incorporate information faster than formal forecasts update, making them a useful cross-check for understanding consensus expectations around Manila's weather that day.
This market resolves around Jun 26, 2026, once June 26 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Manila that day becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the 26°C threshold. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. The resolution process is straightforward and tied to observable meteorological data, removing ambiguity about which side prevails.
Several factors could shift odds before Jun 26, 2026. Updated seasonal weather models or long-range forecasts showing cooler or warmer patterns in the Philippines would likely trigger trading activity. Real-time weather alerts, tropical storm developments, or shifts in the monsoon cycle could also influence trader sentiment. As June 26 approaches, daily weather reports and short-term forecasts become more precise, often causing sharp repricing. Major atmospheric events—such as a cold front or unusual heat dome—would be reflected immediately in trading volume and price movement as participants reassess their positions.
