Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader positioning, risk appetite, and forward-looking expectations beyond standard meteorological models. While meteorologists publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the financial commitments of many participants betting on specific outcomes. Traders may price in tail risks or consensus shifts that official forecasts have not yet reflected. Comparing the implied probabilities here to statements from weather agencies or climate analysts can reveal where market participants see asymmetric opportunities or disagree with conventional wisdom about June 15's conditions in Manila.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that sets odds based on the ratio of shares held in each outcome bucket. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy shares representing their forecast—for example, a bracket for temperatures between 32–34°C—and the price adjusts dynamically as the pool of capital shifts. Higher demand for a particular temperature range raises its odds; lower demand lowers them. The spread between bid and ask prices reflects liquidity depth, and larger trades move the odds more sharply than small ones. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market stays responsive to new weather data and trader conviction.
This market resolves around Jun 15, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Manila on June 15 becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the final reading against the predefined temperature brackets offered in the market. Whichever bracket contains the actual high temperature that day is declared the winner, and traders holding shares in that outcome receive their payout. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the close of the trading day, pending confirmation from reliable meteorological data.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can all shift odds significantly. Tropical storm activity, monsoon intensity, or unexpected high-pressure systems over the Philippines would trigger repricing. Climate anomalies reported by meteorological agencies or changes in ocean temperatures may also influence trader positioning. As June 15 approaches, intraday weather updates and satellite imagery become more precise, allowing traders to refine their bets. Geopolitical or economic events affecting air quality or urban heat dynamics could also play a minor role. The closer the date, the more responsive the market becomes to short-term forecasts and real-time atmospheric conditions.
