Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, risk appetite, and information flow. While weather analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical data to estimate temperature ranges, this market aggregates the financial commitments of participants who profit or lose based on accuracy. Comparing the implied probability from market prices to official forecasts can reveal where traders see asymmetric risk or believe consensus models underestimate uncertainty. Both approaches offer valuable but distinct perspectives on the likely outcome.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on a specific temperature outcome, and the market price reflects the probability implied by the order flow. As traders adjust their positions based on new weather data or model updates, the price moves continuously. The current odds show the market's real-time assessment of which temperature range is most likely to occur on July 7.
This market resolves around Jul 7, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Manila on July 7 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the specific thresholds defined in the market contract. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the close of the trading day.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated tropical cyclone forecasts, or sudden atmospheric changes could significantly move prices. Official meteorological agency updates and real-time temperature readings as July 7 approaches will drive active trading. El Niño or La Niña conditions, monsoon intensity, and urban heat island effects are longer-term factors traders monitor. Breaking news about weather systems, volcanic activity, or unusual atmospheric events may also trigger sharp repricing as participants reassess tail risks and adjust their positions accordingly.
