Frequently asked questions

The Manila temperature record market on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for the highest temperature expected in Manila on July 2. The dashboard displays current trader sentiment through live odds, 24-hour volume activity, and a price history chart showing how confidence has shifted since market launch. This gives you a transparent view of what the crowd believes the peak temperature will reach, updated continuously as new information and trades flow in.

Prediction market odds reflect crowdsourced expectations from traders with real money at stake, often incorporating meteorological forecasts, historical climate patterns, and emerging weather data faster than traditional analyst reports. While weather services and climate analysts publish point estimates and confidence ranges, this market aggregates distributed knowledge into a single probability. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are pricing in more or less risk than official forecasts suggest, highlighting where consensus may diverge from expert consensus.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling shares tied to temperature outcome ranges. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on a specific temperature bracket, and the price of that share reflects the collective probability assigned by the market. As new information emerges—satellite data, model updates, or seasonal patterns—traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. The current odds you see represent the marginal trader's latest assessment of likelihood.

This market resolves around Jul 2, 2026, once July 2 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Manila is verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public reporting from established meteorological sources, ensuring an objective and transparent settlement. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome bracket receive their payout, while positions on incorrect ranges expire worthless.

Major weather pattern shifts—such as tropical cyclone formation, monsoon intensity changes, or unexpected high-pressure systems—can significantly move odds. Updated seasonal forecasts from meteorological agencies, historical temperature anomalies, and real-time atmospheric data will influence trader positioning. Additionally, any shift in climate or local urban heat patterns reported in the news may prompt rapid repricing. As July 2 approaches, actual daily forecasts and pre-dawn weather alerts will likely drive the final price adjustments.
