Frequently asked questions

The Madrid temperature market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for the highest temperature expected in Madrid on July 5. Traders use this interface to view current market sentiment, 24-hour trading volume of $61,689, and cumulative activity across all outcome brackets. The dashboard displays how participants are pricing different temperature thresholds, allowing you to monitor shifts in consensus as new weather data and forecasts emerge leading up to the event date.

Prediction market odds reflect crowdsourced expectations from traders with real money at stake, often incorporating meteorological models and historical patterns faster than traditional analyst consensus. While weather forecasters publish point estimates and confidence intervals, this market aggregates dispersed trader knowledge into continuous probability curves across temperature ranges. The two approaches complement each other: analyst forecasts provide technical rigor, while market odds reveal what informed participants actually believe will occur, sometimes diverging when new data or model updates shift trader positioning.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares, with each share worth a fixed payout if that outcome occurs. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market displays the current bid-ask spread and allows you to execute trades at posted prices or place limit orders. As traders update their positions based on incoming weather models and forecasts, the price of each temperature bracket adjusts in real time, creating a continuous reflection of market-wide probability estimates for the highest temperature on the specified date.

This market resolves around Jul 5, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Madrid on July 5 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing trader predictions against the actual observed maximum temperature for that day. Resolution occurs after the event window closes and official data is confirmed, at which point the winning outcome shares are paid out and losing shares expire worthless.

Major weather model updates, seasonal climate anomalies, and atmospheric pressure systems approaching the Iberian Peninsula are key catalysts that shift trader positioning in this market. Heat waves, cold fronts, or unusual jet stream patterns reported by meteorological agencies can trigger rapid repricing as participants adjust their temperature forecasts. Additionally, historical temperature records for early July in Madrid and real-time weather alerts serve as reference points that influence trading activity and market confidence in specific outcome brackets.
