Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect crowdsourced expectations from traders betting real capital, which often incorporate meteorological forecasts, historical climate data, and emerging weather patterns. Traditional analyst forecasts from meteorological agencies typically focus on probabilistic temperature ranges and seasonal norms. Market odds may diverge from analyst predictions when traders identify inefficiencies or when new information emerges closer to June 9. Comparing the two reveals whether the prediction market is pricing in factors analysts may have overlooked or underweighted.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, temperature outcomes are typically structured as discrete ranges or threshold contracts, with prices reflecting the probability traders assign to each bracket. Participants buy and sell shares corresponding to specific temperature intervals, and the contract price moves based on supply and demand. As June 9 approaches, prices adjust in response to updated weather models, historical temperature data for that date, and real-time trading. The leading outcome shows the market's consensus on the most likely high temperature range for Lucknow.
The market resolves on Jun 9, 2026, after the highest temperature for June 9 in Lucknow is recorded and verified. Resolution depends on official meteorological data from recognized weather stations or government sources in Lucknow. The actual high temperature reading for that calendar day determines which outcome bracket or threshold is correct. Once the data is confirmed and published, the market settles automatically, and traders' positions are paid out according to the outcome.
Updated monsoon forecasts and atmospheric pressure systems can significantly shift temperature expectations for Lucknow in early June. Major weather pattern changes, such as early or delayed monsoon onset, cloud cover anomalies, or heat waves, will move market odds. Historical temperature data releases and seasonal climate reports may also influence trader positioning. As June 9 approaches, real-time weather models become more precise, triggering price adjustments. Local air quality events or unusual atmospheric conditions reported in the days leading up to June 9 could prompt final repricing of temperature outcomes.
