Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader positioning, risk appetite, and broader information flows beyond official weather models. While meteorologists issue deterministic temperature ranges based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the distributed knowledge of participants betting on actual outcomes. Comparing the implied probability here to published forecasts from India's weather service can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less uncertainty than experts publicly estimate.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on buy and sell pressure across temperature outcome brackets. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome reflects the collective willingness of participants to accept risk at that price point. As new information emerges—weather alerts, seasonal patterns, or real-time atmospheric readings—traders adjust positions, moving the market price to equilibrate supply and demand for each temperature range.
This market resolves around Jun 27, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Lucknow on that date is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual peak temperature measurement reported by meteorological authorities or established weather stations serving the region. Resolution occurs after the event concludes and official data is published, ensuring all traders have access to the same factual benchmark.
Major weather alerts, monsoon onset timing, heat wave warnings, and updated seasonal forecasts from India's meteorological department can all shift trader positioning significantly. Real-time atmospheric pressure changes, upper-air wind patterns, and historical temperature anomalies for late June in Lucknow serve as key technical signals. Additionally, any unexpected climate events—dust storms, cloud cover shifts, or unusual air mass movements—may prompt rapid repricing as participants reassess the probability of extreme heat on the target date.
