Prediction markets like this one aggregate dispersed trader knowledge into a single probability estimate, often differing from traditional meteorologist forecasts. While weather analysts rely on numerical models and historical data, traders here incorporate real-time information, recent satellite imagery, and evolving atmospheric patterns. The market price reflects what participants collectively believe will occur, sometimes leading or lagging official forecasts depending on new data or model updates. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus diverges and highlight uncertainty.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling shares tied to specific temperature ranges or thresholds for June 25 in Lucknow. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome share's price reflects the market's collective probability estimate; higher prices mean traders view that outcome as more likely. As new information emerges—updated weather models, seasonal patterns, or real-time conditions—traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. The final price at resolution reflects the market's best guess at the actual high temperature.
This market resolves around Jun 25, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Lucknow on that date is confirmed and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual meteorological reading from an official or widely recognized weather station in the city. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the market end time, once the day's peak temperature is finalized and cross-checked against reliable reporting.
Updated monsoon forecasts, shifts in jet-stream patterns, or anomalous heat waves can significantly shift trader expectations. Real-time satellite and radar data showing cloud cover or moisture levels over northern India may trigger repricing. Major weather alerts, heat warnings issued by Indian meteorological authorities, or unexpected atmospheric blocking patterns could accelerate market moves. As June 25 approaches, each new forecast cycle and observed weather trend will influence how traders adjust their positions and the market price.
