Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Lucknow temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for predictions about the highest temperature in Lucknow on July 7. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and trading volume as participants buy and sell shares based on their forecasts. This dashboard lets you monitor how the market's collective expectation evolves as new weather data and forecasts emerge, giving you a live view of where traders believe temperatures will peak on that specific date.

Prediction market odds reflect real-money incentives, meaning traders who misjudge the outcome face financial loss. This creates pressure for accuracy that often differs from traditional weather analyst forecasts, which may rely on deterministic models without direct financial stakes. While meteorologists publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the distributed knowledge of many traders. Comparing the two reveals whether professional forecasters and market participants align on the likelihood of specific temperature thresholds for July 7 in Lucknow.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on a specific temperature outcome, and the current price reflects the collective probability estimate of all active traders. As new weather data or forecasts emerge, traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. The market price you see represents the marginal trader's belief about the likelihood of that outcome occurring by the resolution date.

This market resolves around Jul 7, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Lucknow on July 7 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the specific thresholds defined in the market's outcome options. Once the event occurs and the data is confirmed, the market settles automatically based on which outcome bracket the recorded temperature falls into, and traders holding winning shares receive their payout.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated monsoon forecasts, or anomalous atmospheric conditions could significantly move this market. Real-time weather alerts, changes in seasonal trends, or unexpected heat waves in northern India would prompt traders to reassess their positions. Additionally, any revisions to long-range climate models or official meteorological warnings about extreme temperatures in Lucknow could trigger sharp price movements. As July 7 approaches, daily weather updates and short-range forecasts will become increasingly influential in shaping trader sentiment and market odds.
