This event tracks whether specific temperature thresholds will be reached in Los Angeles on a particular date, offering insights into potential weather extremes. Outcomes depend on official weather data from a designated source, reflecting real-world climate conditions and measurement practices.
The event determines if the maximum temperature in Los Angeles on October 5, 2026, falls within one of six specified ranges, each corresponding to a separate market outcome. The Weather Company serves as the sole authority for temperature data, with all markets resolving based on their reported maximum temperature for that day. Each market has a defined temperature range: "96° or below", "97° to 98°", "99° to 100°", "101° to 102°", "103° to 104°", or "105° or above". If the recorded temperature matches any market's range, that market resolves to Yes; all others resolve to No. The Exchange retains discretion to delay resolution if it identifies material errors in the initial data publication, extending the evaluation until a corrected revision is issued or the expiration date arrives. Should data remain unavailable by the expiration date, markets resolve at the last fair price determined by the Exchange. Preliminary readings may differ from final values due to rounding or conversion, so users should exercise caution when interpreting early data. The "Final" status on The Weather Company's platform is informational only and does not exempt the data from potential revision or Exchange review.
