Prediction market odds reflect crowdsourced trader expectations, which often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts rely on physics-based models and historical data, this market incorporates real-time information and trader conviction through price discovery. Comparing the implied probability here to official forecasts from Malaysia's meteorological service can reveal whether traders expect conditions to be hotter or cooler than consensus models suggest. Both sources have merit; markets excel at aggregating dispersed information, while institutional forecasters bring specialized expertise and equipment.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—typically temperature ranges like 32–34°C or 34–36°C—has its own contract, and the sum of all outcome probabilities equals 100%. As traders buy shares in higher or lower temperature outcomes, the price of each contract adjusts dynamically. This mechanism ensures continuous liquidity and allows you to enter or exit positions at transparent, market-determined rates throughout the trading window.
This market resolves around Jul 13, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Kuala Lumpur on that date is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by official meteorological data, typically from Malaysia's weather authority or internationally recognized weather stations operating in the city. Traders holding shares in the correct temperature range receive their payout once the final reading is confirmed and the market settles. The resolution window is narrow and objective, ensuring all participants can verify the result independently.
Several factors can shift odds before Jul 13, 2026. Updated weather forecasts from meteorological agencies often trigger repricing as models refine their predictions. Seasonal patterns, monsoon activity, and atmospheric pressure systems in Southeast Asia influence trader expectations. Real-time satellite imagery and preliminary weather alerts in the days leading up to July 13 can cause sharp moves. Additionally, historical temperature records for that date and time of year serve as anchors; traders may adjust positions if they believe this year will be anomalously hot or cool relative to the climatological baseline.
