Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Kuala Lumpur temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for whether the highest temperature in Kuala Lumpur will reach or stay below 26°C on July 10. The dashboard displays the current probability estimate, historical price movements, and liquidity depth for this weather-focused contract. Traders use this data to monitor how market sentiment shifts as the event date approaches, with odds reflecting collective expectations about tropical heat conditions in Malaysia's capital on that specific day.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader positioning and risk appetite alongside expert models. While meteorologists publish deterministic temperature ranges based on historical data and atmospheric modeling, this market aggregates decentralized bets that may weight recent climate patterns, seasonal anomalies, or geopolitical factors differently. The market price reflects what traders collectively believe will occur, not necessarily what official forecasters predict—making it a complementary signal for understanding uncertainty around Kuala Lumpur's July heat.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The contract is binary: traders either back the outcome that the highest temperature will be 26°C or below, or bet against it. As traders deposit capital and place orders, the probability shifts in real time, with the current odds reflecting the marginal price at which the last trade executed. This continuous pricing mechanism ensures the market remains responsive to new information and trader conviction.

This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Kuala Lumpur on July 10 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is binary: if the peak temperature is 26°C or below, one side wins; if it exceeds 26°C, the other prevails. Resolution depends on confirmed meteorological data from official weather stations or recognized reporting bodies, ensuring the result is objective and independently verifiable. Traders should monitor weather updates as the date approaches to assess their positions.

Several factors could shift odds in this market before resolution. Updated seasonal forecasts or climate pattern analyses from meteorological agencies may signal higher or lower expected temperatures. Real-time weather developments—such as approaching monsoon systems, El Niño conditions, or unusual heat waves—can trigger rapid repricing. News about urban heat island effects or infrastructure changes in Kuala Lumpur may also influence trader expectations. As July 10 approaches, actual daily temperatures in the preceding weeks will provide concrete data that traders use to refine their probability estimates.
