Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Karachi temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for the highest temperature forecast in Karachi on June 18. The interface displays current trader positioning, 24-hour volume activity, and outcome probabilities as participants buy and sell shares tied to specific temperature ranges. This live data reflects the collective prediction of market participants and updates continuously as new trades execute, giving you a transparent view of how the crowd is pricing thermal conditions for that date.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment, historical accuracy patterns, and forward-looking risk adjustments. While weather analysts rely on numerical models and satellite data to project temperature, this market aggregates dispersed information from participants who have financial incentives to forecast accurately. Comparing the implied probability here to published forecasts from meteorological agencies can reveal where the crowd sees edge or uncertainty that conventional models may underweight or overlook.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each temperature range outcome has its own share price, typically ranging from near-zero to near-one, and the sum of all outcome probabilities equals 100 percent. As traders place orders, the price adjusts dynamically to reflect supply and demand, with larger trades moving the price more sharply than small ones. This mechanism ensures continuous liquidity and allows participants to enter or exit positions throughout the event window.

This market resolves around Jun 18, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Karachi for June 18 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual meteorological data against the predefined temperature brackets offered in the market. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome bracket receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the close of the trading day, pending confirmation from official weather monitoring networks.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can all shift odds significantly. Tropical storm activity, monsoon intensity changes, or unexpected heat waves in the region would prompt traders to reprice their positions. Additionally, historical temperature records for Karachi in mid-June and recent anomalies in regional climate patterns influence trader conviction. As June 18 approaches, intraday weather updates and satellite imagery become increasingly influential, often triggering sharp repricing in the final hours before the market closes.
