Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-time consensus from traders betting on Jeddah's June 9 high temperature, while traditional analyst forecasts come from meteorological models and climate services. Markets often incorporate broader information sets and update continuously, whereas analyst predictions may be published less frequently. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic temperature scenarios than official weather forecasters, highlighting differences in risk assessment and data interpretation.
On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Jeddah on June 9 is priced through binary or categorical outcome contracts where traders buy and sell shares representing specific temperature thresholds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome has a probability reflected in its share price, ranging from near zero to near one. Traders profit by correctly predicting whether the actual high temperature will fall into their chosen bracket, with prices adjusting in real time based on order flow and new information about weather patterns approaching the event date.
The market resolves on Jun 9, 2026, after the highest temperature in Jeddah on June 9 has been recorded and verified. The outcome is determined by official temperature data for that date, typically sourced from recognized meteorological authorities or weather stations serving the Jeddah region. Once the actual high temperature is confirmed, the market settles according to which outcome bracket or threshold the recorded value matches, and traders' positions are paid out accordingly.
Key signals include updated seasonal weather forecasts, atmospheric pressure systems, ocean temperature anomalies, and historical climate patterns for early June in Jeddah. Major weather events such as dust storms, monsoon activity, or unusual high-altitude wind patterns could shift market expectations. Real-time meteorological model updates and official heat warnings from regional authorities may also trigger trading activity. As June 9 approaches, increasingly precise forecasts will narrow uncertainty and drive price convergence toward the actual outcome.
