Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Jeddah temperature record market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for predictions about the highest temperature in Jeddah on June 30. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and participant volume as traders buy and sell shares based on their forecasts. This market reflects collective expectations about whether the peak temperature will reach specific thresholds on that date. The dashboard updates continuously as new trades execute, giving you a live snapshot of how the crowd is pricing this weather outcome.

Prediction market odds and traditional analyst forecasts often diverge because they operate on different timescales and incentive structures. Meteorologists typically issue forecasts days or weeks in advance using physics-based models, while traders in this market respond to new data, model updates, and shifting probabilities right up to resolution. Market prices reflect real money at stake, which can amplify or dampen confidence relative to expert consensus. Comparing the current odds here to published weather forecasts from major meteorological agencies reveals whether traders are pricing in more or less risk than official predictions suggest for that specific date.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling shares in competing outcomes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—such as whether the highest temperature will be 39°C—is priced between 0 and 100 cents, with the price reflecting the crowd's collective probability estimate. When demand for a particular outcome rises, its price climbs; when it falls, the price drops. Your potential profit or loss depends on the entry price you pay and the final outcome. This continuous, decentralized pricing mechanism ensures the market reflects the latest information and sentiment among all active participants.

This market resolves around Jun 30, 2026, once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the actual highest temperature recorded in Jeddah on June 30. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. The resolution window allows time for official temperature data to be confirmed and reported by reliable meteorological sources. Until that point, the market remains open for trading as new information and forecasts influence participant expectations.

Several factors can shift odds in this market before Jun 30, 2026. Updated weather models and seasonal forecasts from meteorological agencies often trigger repricing as traders adjust their views on heat patterns. Major atmospheric events—such as shifts in monsoon activity, heat waves, or unusual pressure systems affecting the Arabian Peninsula—can cause sharp moves. Real-time satellite data, sea surface temperatures, and regional climate anomalies also influence trading. As the resolution date approaches, intraday weather updates and final forecast consensus typically drive increased volatility. Breaking news about climate or regional weather patterns may also prompt traders to reassess their positions.
