Prediction market odds reflect aggregated trader beliefs and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts rely on physics-based models and historical data, this market incorporates real-time information, trader conviction, and financial incentives to be accurate. Comparing the implied temperature range from market odds to official forecasts from agencies like the Saudi National Center of Meteorology can reveal where traders see gaps or disagreement in the data. Such divergences sometimes signal emerging consensus about extreme heat or cooler-than-expected conditions.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares, with each share worth $1 if that outcome occurs. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price of each temperature bracket reflects the collective probability traders assign to it. Higher prices indicate stronger belief that outcome will occur; lower prices suggest skepticism. As new weather data, seasonal patterns, or climate anomalies surface, traders adjust their positions, causing prices to shift. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market stays responsive to changing information right up until resolution.
This market resolves around Jun 29, 2026, once June 29 has passed and the highest temperature in Jeddah can be verified from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the final recorded peak temperature against the predefined brackets offered in this market. Traders who correctly predicted the temperature range that matches the verified reading receive their payout. Resolution depends on reliable meteorological data becoming publicly available, typically within hours or a day after the event concludes.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, or climate anomalies could significantly move prices in this market. El Niño or La Niña conditions, monsoon activity, or unusual atmospheric pressure systems over the Arabian Peninsula may trigger repricing. Real-time weather alerts, satellite imagery showing cloud cover or dust storms, and official meteorological updates will influence trader positioning. Additionally, historical temperature records for late June in Jeddah and any unusual global climate events could prompt traders to reassess their probability estimates before the market closes.
