This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Istanbul Airport in degrees Celsius on 4 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=LTFM To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
On Polymarket, the Highest temperature in Istanbul on June 4 is priced as a set of binary outcome contracts, each representing a specific temperature range or threshold. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares corresponding to their belief about which range will occur, with prices reflecting the probability of each outcome. The market uses an automated market maker mechanism, so prices adjust continuously as volume flows in and out. Liquidity and spreads depend on overall trading activity; higher volume typically narrows bid-ask spreads and improves price discovery for this weather event.
The market resolves at Jun 4, 2026, after June 4 has concluded. Resolution is determined by the official recorded highest temperature in Istanbul on that date, sourced from a designated meteorological authority or data provider specified in the market's terms. Once the actual high temperature is confirmed and reported, the outcome is settled: the contract corresponding to the correct temperature range or threshold pays out in full, while all other outcomes expire worthless. This ensures traders' positions are finalized based on verified, real-world weather data.
Several factors can shift odds for Istanbul's June 4 high temperature. Updated weather forecasts from meteorological agencies, particularly those issued within days of June 4, often trigger significant repricing as models gain accuracy. Seasonal climate anomalies, heat waves affecting the Eastern Mediterranean, or unusual atmospheric patterns can alter trader expectations. Historical temperature records for early June in Istanbul provide a baseline; deviations from typical conditions prompt market adjustments. Additionally, broader geopolitical or climate events affecting regional weather systems may influence sentiment. As June 4 approaches, each new forecast update typically generates trading activity and price movement.
