Description

This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Istanbul Airport in degrees Celsius on 3 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=LTFM To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts issue deterministic or probabilistic temperature predictions based on atmospheric models, prediction markets aggregate dispersed information and incentivize accuracy through financial stakes. For Istanbul's June 3 high, market odds may emphasize tail risks or seasonal patterns that formal forecasts downweight, or vice versa. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are pricing in factors analysts haven't fully captured or are overweighting uncertainty.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Istanbul on June 3 is priced through outcome tokens representing discrete temperature ranges or thresholds. Traders buy and sell these tokens, with prices reflecting the implied probability of each outcome. The market uses an automated market maker or order-book mechanism to determine real-time odds. As new information arrives—seasonal forecasts, climate patterns, or real-time weather data—traders adjust positions, moving prices to reflect updated consensus about the likely peak temperature on that day.

The market resolves on Jun 3, 2026, after the highest temperature in Istanbul on June 3 has been recorded and verified. The outcome is determined by the actual peak temperature observed in Istanbul on that calendar day. Resolution depends on obtaining an authoritative temperature reading from an official or widely-accepted meteorological source for the city. Once the final temperature is confirmed, the market settles to the corresponding outcome token, and traders' positions are paid out according to their holdings.

Market prices for Istanbul's June 3 high temperature may shift in response to updated seasonal weather forecasts, atmospheric pressure systems, ocean temperature anomalies, or historical climate patterns. Major weather models released days or weeks before June 3 can trigger repricing if they predict unusual heat or cooler conditions. Real-time observations of regional weather trends, heat waves affecting southern Europe or the Mediterranean, or unexpected climate events may also influence trader expectations. As June 3 approaches, intraday forecasts and live weather data will likely drive final price adjustments.
