This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Istanbul Airport in degrees Celsius on 28 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=LTFM To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Prediction markets like this one often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment and financial incentives. While weather analysts rely on models and historical data, market participants factor in broader uncertainty and adjust odds dynamically. Comparing this market's implied probability to official forecasts from Turkey's meteorological authority or international weather services can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less risk than experts expect. Both sources offer value: analysts provide technical depth, while markets aggregate dispersed information.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—such as whether the high will reach 27°C—is represented as a tradable contract, and the current price reflects the probability implied by recent trades. As more traders buy or sell shares, the price shifts, allowing you to enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes. This continuous pricing mechanism ensures that the market stays responsive to new weather data and forecasts.
This market resolves around Jun 28, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Istanbul on June 28 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual recorded high against the temperature thresholds embedded in each contract. Traders who correctly predicted the temperature range will receive their winnings, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the market close, pending confirmation of the official temperature reading.
Weather forecasts updated by meteorological agencies will be the primary driver of price movement in this market. Seasonal patterns, atmospheric pressure systems, and any unusual heat events reported in the region can shift trader expectations. Major weather alerts or warnings issued by Turkish authorities may also trigger rapid repricing. Additionally, as June 28 approaches, historical temperature data and real-time conditions will become more concrete, reducing uncertainty and stabilizing odds. Early-season heat waves or cooler-than-normal patterns across Europe could indirectly influence regional forecasts.
