The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=LTFM To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. Prediction markets aggregate distributed knowledge from many traders, often revealing consensus that differs from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts rely on numerical models and historical data, this market reflects real-money incentives for accuracy. Comparing current odds to published forecasts from national weather services or climate institutes can highlight where traders see upside or downside risk. Such divergences often signal either market inefficiency or information the broader analyst community has not yet fully priced in.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each temperature range carries its own contract, and the price of each reflects the implied probability that outcome will occur. Higher prices indicate stronger trader conviction; lower prices suggest skepticism. Liquidity and trading volume influence how quickly prices adjust to new information, with deeper pools allowing larger trades with less slippage.
This market resolves around Jun 19, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Istanbul on June 19 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by official meteorological data, typically from Turkey's State Meteorological Service or equivalent authoritative weather records. Traders holding shares in the correct temperature range receive their payout; all other positions expire worthless. Resolution is automatic once the data is confirmed and published.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, or unexpected atmospheric events can significantly alter odds in this market. Real-time weather model runs, tropical storm activity, or heat waves affecting the Eastern Mediterranean region may trigger sharp repricing. As June 19 approaches, actual temperature readings from nearby stations and intraday forecasts will increasingly influence trader positioning. News about climate anomalies or regional weather systems weeks in advance can also shift long-term expectations before the event date arrives.
