Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Istanbul July 1 temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for contracts tied to the highest temperature forecast in Istanbul on that date. The interface displays current market prices, 24-hour volume, and historical price movements, allowing traders to monitor how sentiment shifts as the event approaches. This market reflects collective trader expectations about whether temperatures will hit specific thresholds, with odds updating continuously as new positions are opened and closed.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment and risk appetite alongside meteorological models. While meteorologists publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the beliefs of many participants betting with real capital. Comparing the implied probability from current odds to published forecasts from weather agencies can reveal where the crowd expects conditions to deviate from baseline models, though both sources draw from similar underlying data.

On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on order flow and liquidity. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each contract represents a specific temperature outcome, and the price reflects the probability traders assign to that result occurring. As more capital flows into one side, the odds shift accordingly, creating a dynamic price discovery mechanism that responds to new information, model updates, and changing expectations about Istanbul's weather on the settlement date.

This market resolves around Jul 1, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Istanbul for that day becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual observed temperatures against the contract thresholds traders have wagered on. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the market close, after official meteorological data is published and confirmed.

Major weather model updates, seasonal climate patterns, and real-time atmospheric conditions will all influence trader positioning before the market closes. Unexpected heat waves, changes in jet stream patterns, or shifts in high-pressure systems over the region could trigger significant repricing. Additionally, revisions to long-range forecasts from meteorological agencies and historical temperature comparisons for early July may prompt traders to adjust their positions, causing volatility in implied probabilities as new information emerges.
