This event group asks what the highest temperature in Houston will be on July 11, 2026. Kalshi and Polymarket both reference official weather data sources (National Weather Service and Wunderground respectively) to resolve binary or range-based outcomes on this specific date.
This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the William P. Hobby Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 11 Jul '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the William P. Hobby Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/tx/houston/KHOU. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Resolution is based on the maximum temperature recorded at Houston on July 10, 2026, as reported in the National Weather Service's Climatological Report (Daily) for Houston-Hobby, TX. The temperature is divided into six ranges: 91°F or below, 92-93°F, 94-95°F, 96-97°F, 98-99°F, and 100°F or above. Each range corresponds to a separate market outcome. The official data source is accessed through the NWS Regional Headquarters website by navigating to the Observed Weather tab and selecting Houston-Hobby, TX with Daily Climate Report. Traders should note that preliminary NWS data may be subject to rounding and conversion nuances, and the final official report should be used for resolution rather than preliminary readings or third-party weather services.
Prediction markets often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they aggregate dispersed information and financial incentives in real time. While meteorologists rely on physics-based models and satellite data, traders in this market incorporate broader signals—historical anomalies, climate trends, and consensus sentiment. Markets can react faster to breaking news or updated model runs than official forecasts. However, both sources share the same underlying data streams, so major divergences typically narrow as the event date approaches. Comparing odds here to your local weather service's forecast offers a useful reality check and reveals where the crowd sees upside or downside risk.
Major weather pattern shifts, tropical system development, or unexpected heat domes could dramatically reprrice this market in either direction. Updated National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model consensus changes often trigger sharp moves, especially if they shift the expected high by several degrees. Climate anomalies—such as a sudden cold front or persistent ridge of high pressure—can reshape trader expectations overnight. Media coverage of record-breaking heat waves or unusual seasonal conditions may also influence sentiment. As July 11 approaches, real-time atmospheric data and intraday temperature trends will tighten the range and narrow odds, with final volatility likely in the hours before market close.
