This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 27 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Max (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather analyst forecasts because they incorporate real-time trading by informed participants who profit from accuracy. While meteorologists issue deterministic point forecasts or narrow ranges, this market aggregates the probabilistic views of many traders with varying expertise and risk tolerances. Analyst forecasts tend to be more conservative and updated less frequently, whereas market prices adjust continuously as new data arrives. Comparing the two reveals whether the crowd is pricing in more upside or downside risk than official forecasts suggest, making this market a useful complementary signal for understanding temperature expectations.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker, with each share worth $1 if its outcome occurs and $0 otherwise. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each temperature range reflects the implied probability that traders assign to it. Higher prices mean traders believe that outcome is more likely; lower prices signal skepticism. As new weather data, model updates, or seasonal patterns emerge, traders adjust their positions, causing prices to move. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures the market remains responsive to changing conditions and new information.
This market resolves around Jun 27, 2026, once June 27 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Hong Kong that day is confirmed. The outcome is verified against credible public sources to ensure accuracy and fairness. Traders who held shares in the winning temperature range receive their payout, while other positions expire worthless. The resolution process is designed to be transparent and objective, relying on widely recognized meteorological data to eliminate ambiguity and ensure all participants accept the final result.
Several factors can shift prices significantly before resolution. Updated weather models and seasonal forecasts from meteorological agencies often trigger sharp repricing as traders incorporate new data. Tropical storm systems or unusual atmospheric patterns could push temperatures higher or lower than baseline expectations. Real-time satellite imagery and atmospheric pressure readings in the days leading up to June 27 will influence trader positioning. Major climate anomalies or heat waves affecting the region may also attract new trading activity. As the event date approaches, intraday temperature trends and overnight lows will become increasingly important signals, driving final market adjustments.
