This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 26 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Max (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate trader sentiment, historical volatility, and real-time information flow. While weather agencies publish deterministic temperature ranges based on atmospheric models, this market prices uncertainty through a probabilistic lens—traders betting on whether the high will reach exactly 30°C, for instance. Comparing the two reveals whether the crowd is more bullish or bearish than official forecasts suggest. Prediction markets tend to update faster than formal advisories when new satellite data or model runs emerge, making them a useful cross-check against conventional analyst views.
This market resolves around Jun 26, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Hong Kong on June 26 is verified and confirmed. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual daily high against the specific temperature thresholds embedded in each contract. Traders who correctly predicted the outcome receive their winnings, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution relies on credible public reporting of the official temperature reading, ensuring all participants have access to the same authoritative data.
Several catalysts can shift odds significantly before June 26. Updated weather models from meteorological agencies—particularly 10-day forecasts as the date approaches—often trigger repricing when they show warmer or cooler trends. Seasonal climate patterns, such as early monsoon onset or heat waves, can move the entire market. Real-time atmospheric conditions, including sea surface temperatures and upper-level wind patterns, feed into trader expectations. Breaking news about tropical systems or unusual pressure systems can cause sharp moves. As June 26 draws closer, intraday forecasts become more precise, typically narrowing the range of plausible outcomes and concentrating trading volume around the most likely temperature band.
