This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Helsinki Vantaa Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 8 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Helsinki Vantaa Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/fi/vantaa/EFHK. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket can be compared against traditional weather forecasts from meteorological agencies and climate analysts. While weather models provide deterministic temperature predictions based on atmospheric data, prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of many traders into probabilistic odds. Market prices often reflect real-time consensus but may diverge from official forecasts if traders incorporate different assumptions or newer information. Comparing the two approaches reveals whether markets are pricing in higher or lower temperatures than expert models suggest for Helsinki on June 8.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Helsinki on June 8 is priced through a set of outcome shares, each representing a specific temperature range or threshold. Traders buy and sell these shares, and the price of each outcome reflects its implied probability. As new weather data emerges or market sentiment shifts, prices adjust dynamically. The cost to buy a share in any outcome directly indicates how likely the market believes that temperature range is to occur, with higher prices signaling greater confidence in that outcome.
The market resolves on Jun 8, 2026, after the highest temperature in Helsinki on June 8 has been recorded and verified. Resolution depends on official temperature data for that date, typically sourced from Finland's meteorological authority or a designated weather station in Helsinki. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual recorded high temperature against the predefined outcome categories or thresholds established for this market. Once the data is confirmed, the winning outcome is settled and traders receive payouts accordingly.
Several factors can shift market odds for Helsinki's June 8 temperature. Major weather pattern changes, such as shifts in jet stream positioning or the arrival of warm or cold air masses, will influence trader expectations. Updated seasonal forecasts, climate indices, and real-time atmospheric data releases can trigger repricing. As June 8 approaches, short-range weather models become more reliable, typically causing sharper price movements. Unusual weather events in Northern Europe or broader climate anomalies may also prompt traders to adjust their positions, reflecting evolving confidence in the final temperature outcome.
