The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Helsinki Vantaa Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/fi/vantaa/EFHK. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader positioning and uncertainty. While weather analysts publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on atmospheric models, this market aggregates the collective judgment of traders betting on the actual outcome. Analysts may issue a point estimate or range, whereas traders here are pricing in tail risks, model disagreement, and late-breaking data. Comparing the two reveals whether the market is pricing in more or less confidence than official forecasts suggest, offering insight into where informed traders see potential surprises.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell pressure. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—such as whether the highest temperature will be exactly 17°C—is represented as a separate contract, and the sum of all outcome prices equals one dollar. As traders buy or sell contracts, the price of each outcome shifts to reflect changing beliefs about the likelihood of that temperature occurring. This continuous pricing mechanism ensures the market remains liquid and responsive to new weather data or model updates.
This market resolves around Jun 17, 2026, once June 17 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Helsinki that day is confirmed. The outcome is determined by comparing actual weather observations against the specific temperature thresholds defined in each contract. Resolution relies on verified data from credible public weather reporting sources to ensure accuracy and fairness. Traders holding contracts matching the verified outcome receive their payout, while other positions expire worthless.
Major weather model updates and seasonal forecasts can significantly shift odds as meteorologists refine their predictions for mid-June conditions in Helsinki. Unusual atmospheric patterns, such as early heat waves or cold snaps across Northern Europe, may trigger rapid repricing. Real-time temperature data from nearby regions and historical anomalies can also influence trader positioning. As June 17 approaches, daily forecasts become more precise, typically narrowing the range of expected outcomes and concentrating trading volume around the most likely temperature bands.
