Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money bets and often differ from traditional meteorological forecasts or analyst models. While weather agencies publish deterministic or probabilistic temperature predictions, prediction markets aggregate trader beliefs and incentivize accuracy through financial reward. Comparing the implied probability of specific temperature ranges on Polymarket to published forecasts from China's meteorological authority or regional weather services can reveal whether markets are pricing in more bullish or bearish temperature scenarios. Discrepancies may signal either market inefficiency or information the official forecast has not yet incorporated.
On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Guangzhou on June 6 is priced as a set of outcome contracts, each representing a specific temperature range or threshold. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares in each outcome; the price of a share reflects the collective probability assigned to that outcome by the market. As new information arrives—such as seasonal forecasts, atmospheric patterns, or real-time weather data—traders adjust positions, moving prices up or down. The current price of each outcome contract directly translates to an implied probability, allowing you to see which temperature scenarios the market favors most.
The market resolves on Jun 6, 2026, after the highest temperature in Guangzhou on June 6 has been recorded and verified. The outcome is determined by the official maximum temperature reading for that date from the designated reference source. Once the actual temperature is confirmed, the prediction market will settle all contracts based on which outcome bracket or threshold the recorded temperature falls into. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless.
Several factors could shift odds for Guangzhou's June 6 high temperature. Seasonal weather pattern updates, such as monsoon onset timing or tropical cyclone activity in the South China Sea, often trigger repricing. Real-time atmospheric data—including sea-surface temperatures, pressure systems, and humidity trends—feed into trader models. Major weather alerts or warnings issued by meteorological authorities can cause sharp moves. Additionally, historical analogues and ensemble forecast model updates released closer to June 6 will influence market sentiment. Traders continuously incorporate new meteorological intelligence, so odds may drift significantly as the event date approaches.
