Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Guangzhou temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the highest temperature forecast in Guangzhou on June 25. The interface displays current market prices, 24-hour trading volume of $70,597, and historical price movements. Traders use this data to monitor how market participants are pricing the likelihood of specific temperature outcomes. The dashboard aggregates all bids and offers on this market, giving you a live snapshot of consensus expectations around peak heat conditions in the city on that date.

Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders worldwide, often incorporating meteorological data, historical patterns, and regional climate models faster than traditional analyst consensus. While weather forecasters publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on numerical models, this market prices uncertainty through supply and demand. Traders who outperform analysts profit, creating an incentive to integrate the latest satellite imagery, atmospheric pressure readings, and seasonal trends. Over time, prediction markets tend to converge toward accuracy as informed participants arbitrage away systematic biases in pricing.

This market resolves around Jun 25, 2026, once the event date has passed and the highest temperature in Guangzhou can be verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public sources that record official temperature readings for that day. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their winnings, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours or a few days after June 25, depending on data availability and platform confirmation procedures. Early resolution is possible if the outcome becomes mathematically certain before the deadline.

Major weather pattern shifts—such as tropical cyclones, heat domes, or monsoon onset timing—can dramatically reprrice this market. Updated seasonal forecasts from meteorological agencies, real-time atmospheric data, and historical temperature anomalies all influence trader positioning. Urban heat island effects and local pollution levels may also factor into expectations. As June 25 approaches, short-range forecasts become more precise, typically tightening the range of plausible outcomes. Breaking news about climate anomalies or extreme weather elsewhere in Asia could shift regional expectations and trigger repricing across temperature markets.
