Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Guangzhou July 10 temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for whether the highest temperature in Guangzhou will reach 39°C or higher on that date. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and trading volume to help participants monitor how forecasts evolve. This market reflects collective trader expectations about summer heat conditions in the region, updated continuously as new information and weather models emerge. The dashboard provides transparency into market sentiment and allows traders to enter or adjust positions throughout the trading period.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader conviction and incorporate broader information sources beyond meteorological models alone. While professional meteorologists rely on atmospheric data and historical patterns, this market aggregates the collective judgment of traders who may weigh additional factors such as climate trends, seasonal anomalies, and regional heat patterns. Comparing the implied probability in this market to official forecasts from China's meteorological agencies can reveal where traders see greater or lesser risk of extreme heat. This divergence sometimes highlights gaps in consensus or emerging confidence about temperature thresholds.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling shares that represent yes or no outcomes, with the current market price reflecting the probability traders assign to the highest temperature reaching 39°C or higher. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders believe the threshold will be exceeded, the yes-share price rises; conversely, skepticism drives it lower. The market operates on an automated market maker model, ensuring continuous liquidity and transparent pricing. Traders profit by correctly predicting the outcome relative to their entry price, creating incentives for accurate forecasting and information discovery.

This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Guangzhou for July 10 is verified and confirmed. The outcome is determined by comparing the official temperature reading against the 39°C threshold specified in the market. Resolution occurs after the event date when credible public reporting and meteorological data confirm the final temperature. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. The resolution process prioritizes accuracy and relies on established temperature measurement standards.

Updated weather forecasts and seasonal climate models are primary drivers that shift market odds as meteorologists refine their predictions for early July conditions. Major atmospheric patterns, such as the arrival of heat waves or monsoon systems, can dramatically alter trader expectations about extreme temperatures. Real-world heat events in neighboring regions or earlier in the summer may increase conviction about Guangzhou's heat risk. Long-range climate indices and historical precedent for July temperatures in the region also influence positioning. As the event date approaches, intraday weather updates and short-term forecast adjustments typically generate the most volatile price movements.
